Massacred Pen

I passed Fictiontheory and analysis with my paper on Gears of War, which you now can download from here. I got an 7(a C) for it, it’s in danish, so that’s a good reason for you to consider to learn danish!

Why would you think it’s Christmas Casper you might ask, well… Let me start out with a picture:

Yeah, that’s MacGyver, and for you who haven’t bought any of the several season boxes yet, you’re missing out!

The news about the series that run from 1985 to 1992(and later in Denmark while I was in elementary school) is about to get to the big screen, that’s a huge news, and I’m actually quiet excited about MacGyver as a movie. I know that there have been 2 movies, MacGyver: Lost Treasure of Atlantis and MacGyver: Trail to Doomsday. But I haven’t seen them since they haven’t been available on DVD(Apparently they are on some of the DVD boxes, but I don’t know which), so I’m so excited about an upcomming MacGyver: The Movie.

And in other news, yes, I’m going to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull on the premiere, with Jonas, who ordered the tickets.

No! I don’t want to hear how good GTA IV is! The reason: I haven’t bought it yet, and are not planning on buying it before the end of June, because of the exams, which I will entertain you guys with later. So this post is about something completely different.

After I’ve seen the season 2 of Dexter, it came to my attention that maybe this is the thing I’m the biggest fan of, series. I like the way it have a really limited time to tell a “little” story, about 20(Sitcoms) - 50(HBO’ish series) min, thereby making the pacing in the story really fast, which is something I really appreciate, specially after I started at Film- and media studies, because we are forced to see several classic movies(Maybe force is a strong word, specially considering that we actually get to see movies instead of reading books), where the speed in the story in the movie is so slow that you fall asleep, but with a episode of a show, there is only 20-50 min to tell a story. But on the same time you can have a long storyline that develops over the different episodes.

Also after watching Dexter, it became clear to me there is another force within series, the ability to build a character, and really get to know that person, and get to know why he is doing what he does, instead of a movie where there is a limited time to get in deepth with a character, where it sometimes  tends to be somewhat shallow.

Jeg forstår ikke den film. Jo, det er en glimrende action film, men den er klart overvuderet og især i forhold til The Island som holder. Her er en liste over ting der gør at The Island er bedre end Transformers:

Udover disse punkter så syntes jeg at der ikke er nogen god forklaring på hvorfor Autobots er så nederen i forhold til Decepticons, bare fordi du god så er det stadigvæk i orden at være en F-22 Raptor, eller F-16, eller Grippen(i øvrigt et stærkt undervuderet kampfly…), du behøver ikke at være en Lastbil udgave af Captain America.

Desuden hvordan kan den der lille “im-so-horny-when-im-hacking-computers-in-airforce-one”-transformer sende radiosignaler ud fra Hooverdæmningen når The Great Spark ikke kan. Im confused mom! The Scifi movie doesn’t make any sense!

Derudover hvis det er så vigtigt at vi ringer til Flyvevåbnet, hvorfor fanden tager man så flugten ind til en million by, der er fyldt med højhuse?

Desuden hvorfor er det ikke præsidenten der styrer showet, i stedet for bliver vi præsenteret for en forsvarsminister som åbnebart er ret ferm med en shotgun, og som kan komme med smarte lines som: “The decepticons are here”.

Men som action film er den glimragende, plot hullerne var bare tilstrækkelig store til jeg lod mig irriterer af dem, men her hvor jeg så den anden gang sammen med min fader på hans lydanlæg til 16k, så blev den massivt bedre.
