Comming up with a thesis statement…
Looking at the calender, I thought to myself it was about time that I came up with a thesis statement, because the paper should be handed in on May the 30th, which is only a few weeks away, and the paper needs to be between 20-25 pages, so there is a lot of work to be done in the next few weeks. I think I had made a good start on the paper, because our teacher requested that we all handed in a 7-papers version of the paper, which only 2 of us did
I choose to write about Gears of War, but I used all my energy on getting a grasp on how to a analysis about the narrative and space in Gears of War, that I totally forgot something very important, the thesis statement. So in the middle of the night, before I should turn in the 7-page paper I came up with a thesis statement, that I only described in the introduction to the paper and the conclusion, which of course made my paper to a really mess, and the teacher was not that excited about my paper. So in that light, I think it would be a good idea to come up with a thesis statement… Now my problems is what the hell should me thesis statement be about, I’m having a really tough time coming up with any ideas for my thesis statement. I just know that I really like Gears of War, but from there to actually making up a academic problem that I can write about, well, let’s just say there is a really long way.
EER:
Since you mentioned you also want to improve your English (and because I’m a bastard that enjoys saying stuff like this); “Comming” should be “Coming”.
On GoW, I’d find out WHY you like it so much, what makes it special? Perhaps you can write about the apparently exceptional qualities you will find.

My spelling tool is the Wordpress one, so don’t blame me, I’m just a product of flawed software
Thanks for pointing out my spelling error, hopefully it will stick to my brain and I will improve my English
Yeah maybe that’s idea, I’ll try to work with it and come up with a draft, tho I think that should rephrase it to “Why are GoW so popular?”, because my personal opinion doesn’t matter, that’s what the teacher tell us that you can’t write your personal opinion… So if i write something about the good reviews instead of why I like it so much, that could work.

Spell checkers are for n00bz.
You could write an analysis of the core gameplay in Gears of War. Why does it feel so kinetic? What sort of visual and audio cues and physics and camera tricks have they employed to make the player FEEL that he’s part of the action? Epic have used all sorts of tricks with eg. the blood effects and animations to make sure every hit is clear and visually rewarding.
Similarly, they’ve employed all sorts of crazy camera effects to enhance the action, most notably the low roaming chase cam when you sprint. These are all effects that are mildly difficult to notice unless you really sit down and look closely for them, and you know our teachers would cream themselves if you started analyzing camera work in games. “OMG FINALLY SOMETHING I’M QUALIFIED FOR!”
